On average Houston, Texas is one of the most humid places on the
face of the earth. High humidity conditions can cause mold, mildew,
prolific dust mite populations and uncomfortable living conditions.
In the past people have just learned to live with these conditions
but now there is a solution. Whole house dehumidifiers have entered
the market place and are reeking havoc on high humidity.
Whole House Dehumidifiers are designed to remove moisture and
distribute dry air via the HVAC duct system. This helps keep the
home at a more desirable humidity and increases the overall comfort
level of the occupants. By keeping a home drier one can feel
comfortable at a higher temperature.
Dust mites are perhaps the leading cause of allergies in the Houston
area and survive by pulling moisture from the air. This means the
higher the moisture count in the home the more likely you are to
have dust mites. However, if you keep your indoor humidity below 50%
dust mites can no longer pull moisture from the air and eventually
shrivel up and die. Then through good cleaning practices they can be
removed from the home.
Within the past 3-years mold has become a bad word to homeowners,
builders and insurance companies. Millions of dollars have been
spent in attempts to rid people’s homes of mold. Many mold issues
can be avoided with a whole house dehumidifier. Since mold only
needs food and water to grow, we have found that removing the
moisture is the easiest way to break the mold growth cycle When
humidity levels are kept below 60% mold has a hard time spreading
and will generally stay in a dormant phase.
The humidity control technology is here to stay and is only getting
better. If every home in the Houston area had a whole house
dehumidifier people would be much healthier and happier in their
indoor environment. The success so far has been amazing. We have had
people stop snoring, sneezing, taking allergy medicine and they all
have generally felt better in their homes.
